The war is really about the West Bank. Israel wants it in full. The war is really about the mutilations of Jews on Oct 7th and Hamas’s vow to repeat it over and over. It’s been clear as a bell since Oct 7th.

While Israel is making an unprecedented effort to limit the technically non-combatants' deaths, it is only a small part of it IMO. The real reasons in no particular order: Israeli government doesn't seem to have a plan/endgame. Much pressure from abroad. Much internal pressure. There is a tiny chance that Netanyahu or/and someone among the IDF brass with a spot of integrity are trying to use this opportunity to clear out some other viper nests (Hezbollah or even Iran). But I doubt it. Netanyahu is using the Bush/Cheney strategy.

The U.S. House is flipping the bird at people like gameboy, too. That has nothing to do with anything. You eat good while children in Gaza starve, right? As usual. Hamas gets free pass.

Of course they'd be happy. I don't believe there are many old families in Gaza or any... Well, maybe some Egyptians. In any case, most of their ancestors came here after the WWI here looking for a better life. It didn't work out. You offer them a better life in the US, why would they not go? If they'd be so happy to leave than what is all the fighting even about then? FFS, I was only half kidding about Canada. Trudeau already said any and all refugees and migrants are welcome. The United States is about full, we're in the process of relocating Central and South America here. We are talking about over a hundred years of a culture based purely on envy and resentment. In 1921 it was about a bunch of losers who came here because of the Zionist economic boom and British investments and couldn't make it, so they became an easy mark for Islamic supremacists and started attacking Jews. Nowadays? I think most of them simply know no other way to live. The smart ones try to leave or already have. Older families tend to be more tolerant towards non-Muslims. But they are a minority...

A number of Gazans said the black market prices were too steep.
It was supposed to be free to them.

What or who the hell is that crap...?

I've mentioned meeting a Gazan man in North Carolina who left Gaza in his early 20s shortly before the Oslo Accords. He had worked in Israel.
He liked the Israelis and he spoke Hebrew. He told me that there was a 40% overlap between Hebrew and Arabic, but Hebrew came first.
He was totally against the Oslo Accords. He said they ruined everything.
In North Carolina, he owned his own sandwich store and his teenage sons were as American as they could be.
He still liked the Israelis. (I didn't mention to him that I'm Jewish or that I was moving to Israel. This was in 2011 or so.)
He found a wonderful life. He didn't have hatred to bring with him to America so he fit right in.
Smart guy.

The early 90s were a different era. And the Muslim Arab clans of Judea and Samaria were much more peaceful and reasonably prosperous. And then Rabin and Co gave them to Arafat and his Tunisian thugs.

You are being naive.
Unless you are prepared to crawl over your own dead, urban warfare tends to be a murderous affair. you can't use tanks and using a creeping barrage isn't on when you have the world press waiting to record your every move. Plus, the Israelis are not in any hurry. The Palestinians don't have any relieving armies and while the rest of the Arab world will huff and puff, it does not like El Hamas either

What a tragic mistake. Israeli lefties were pushed a lot by the U.S. State Department, too. The State Dept hired American Jewish leftie diplomats to sell it. A friend of mine in Gush Etzion (from New York) was following this closely at the time as a Journalist. He's still so angry about this that he calls the State Jewish guys "The State Department's JewBoys". He'll never forgive this time period - Oslo etc.
