I think pretty much all their 80s albums are stellar, but I had to pick one I think "And Justice For All" was when their song writing was at their finest, besides the title track, songs like Harvester of Sorrow, Shortest Straw, Frayed Ends of Sanity are some of their finest moments.

Probably TBA.
Growing up, a friend of mine had all their albums, but I felt the earlier ones only had a couple good songs each. TBA had a bunch of them including some softer ones like Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters which I really appreciated.

I like Lightning and Puppets about the same, but if for whatever reason I have to pick one over the other I’m choosing Lightning.

I know this answer makes the most pretentious fans want to fight me but - Death Magnetic. Especially The Judas Kiss and That Was Just Your Life...

Justice gets criticized a lot for the drop in bass agility compared to the albums with Cliff Burton.

I like that album, too. It was the album they needed after the lackluster St Anger.
