Killie played pretty well last night, and I'm glad I made the effort to go, but were never going to overhaul a two goal deficit. Copenhagen, a team who have made the last 16 of the (grossly overrated) Champions League last season, but surely can't be considered a major European team, were streets ahead of us nonetheless. A soft penalty shout, no softer than the one they got last week, could have made a difference, but ultimately the outcome over both legs was not in doubt. I am cautiously optimistic that our abysmal league form can be turned around. A new signing or two would help today, but I haven't looked to see if anything is happening, as all the hype and pointless speculation make my brain itch.

Feels silly that some people are saying the league is over already. Far too early to right anyone off … Rangers or Aberdeen.

Rodgers had no cause to criticise his players. But they should probably have pressed home their advantage to a greater extent. Celtic seemed safe in the knowledge Rangers had no available route back into proceedings. Even those in the stands seemed rather bored with it all. That is at least one explanation for the belting out of verse in support of the IRA as stoppage time played out. Neither Celtic nor the Scottish football authorities do nearly enough to address this embarrassing dirge, which hauls the game back to a time everyone else gladly moved on from long ago. Celtic have so much else to cheer and celebrate; there is no sign of that stopping any time soon. www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/sep/01/celtic-rangers-scottish-premiership-match-report

Dons won again. Banking some points early for the 3rd place battle with Hearts. Plenty of red shirts in the stands in Ross County. Big roar for the winner too.
