But there's always a "host" (just like human females are the host Yes, there's always a host, but not like human females with humans. What is the difference between the alien baby's host and a human baby's host? "Can"? Is that the only true statement here?

Well, is a worker ant or worker bee a living creature? This relates to the species, not specific individuals.

Well, often as with nature, the recipient isn't always a willing party, and is essentially raped and "impregnated" without consent. I'm not following with regards to "can" reproduce. They obviously use other species to reproduce, not just human bodies, because of....all those eggs, and all the creatures prior to the arrival of humans on the first planet. They've been reproducing for a very long time. All the statements are true, not just that one.

They obviously use other species to reproduce, Right. So ask yourself, do they do that because they can, or because they must? The answer to that question gives you the answer to everything that this thread is about.

The answer to that question gives you the answer to everything that this thread is about. They must. Just like any other living creature, unless we're talking about cell division, they all rely on another "host" for reproduction. When I used the word "can" - I meant unlike humans where we can only reproduce with our own species, the Alien creatures "can" use other species to procreate.

the Alien creatures "can" use other species to procreate. First you say they must and then you say they can. Which is it - can or must use another species?

I view it as interchangeable in this case because while they MUST procreate via another creature, they CAN do it with any species (that's not a "must" but it's a "can" as in they have that option, unlike human beings). Not to mention, nothing in your comments indicate what would lead you to think they are "biomechanical."

I view it as interchangeable in this case because while they MUST procreate via another creature Right. And what sort of organism is reliant on another species to procreate? Biomechanical is not the case here.

Biomechanical is not the case here. Nothing I am aware of, but the very fact that it procreates and requires a form of insemination, gestation and birthing, would indicate a living creature. We were discussing whether it's a living being or not, and all of these factors point to it definitely being a living creature. If it were not living, it could not "replicate" without intervention by a higher being.

There is something though. Not an uncommon thing, you will definitely be aware of it. Not in this case. Shall we draw this to a conclusion? I.e. shall I explain, or do you prefer to keep going? I'd prefer it if someone would get it rather than me explain it.

I'm doing my level best and I'm strongly convinced that my position is the right one. Either that, or because I enjoy intriguing dialogue and am willing to carry this further, drop a hint or two and I'm happy to keep trying to guess so that I can see your point. Thus far, it's escaping me.

It doesn't have "blue blood" (whereas humans have red blood), so that's not it. Blue, not red. Blue, not red. Hmm....
