And this clue is germane to the conversation of the Alien being a "living creature?" It doesn't have "blue blood" (whereas humans have red blood), so that's not it. Blue, not red. Blue, not red. Hmm.... What do you associate with blue and red? If I showed you a chart with some areas in blue and some in red, what would you think that was showing?

Light? Wavelengths of light. Spectral colours. Also blue is the flip side of red, yes?

Yes. Which of those that blue represents is your clue.

Yes. Which of those that blue represents is your clue. Cold. But that still doesn't explain anything.

Cold. But that still doesn't explain anything. Right. The word 'cold' is your clue, but not in the temperature sense. (That was just the little roundabout to get to the word which is the clue.)

This game sucks.
You are implying that it is a virus.
Which is a living thing.
Case closed.

Is that what you're getting at? That the Alien is a form of a virus? (I would not have come to that conclusion without Darth piping in, by the way). As he pointed out, that would still make it a living organism which can thrive and be killed.

Hmm, actually wait a second. Viruses actually don't die, but they can become dormant. At least within the human host.
But it still doesn't explain the entire procreation thing, and in the movie, some of the creatures in various forms actually do die.

But, an organism that cannot reproduce on its own and requires another species to do so is a virus. Anything that cannot reproduce on its own is not considered to be alive - viruses are not considered to be alive. Even though this thing is huge and runs around doing stuff, which would make you think it is obviously alive, it cannot reproduce on its own, which means it is a virus which means it cannot be classified as a living organism.

That would make humans a virus because a fetus needs a host and cannot survive without one. Nothing can reproduce on its own (except I think there is some type of jellyfish that does). I'm following, and I can suspend my disbelief enough to entertain the virus aspect, even though it's articulated and ambulates. I see where you're going.

The Xenomorph does reproduce on it's own.
It lays eggs.
How they incubate is irrelevant.
That's like saying birds aren't alive because they uses nests.
