But if the whole thing is founded on bad intentions (controlling people), why give it any leeway at all? Because the Church speaks for the Almighty himself. To go against God's spokesmen on Earth has often been a death sentence. Let me guess... it was the church who declared that the church speaks for the almighty himself? Am I right? Am I right??

Am I right?? off the top of my head, I think it's only the Catholics who claim that the Pope is God's representative on Earth and speaks for him. Other religions, the Church's function should be only the interpretation of the scripture/doctrine. Comes down to whether you consider that being a spokesman is the same as being the voice of, there's a subtle but important difference. Nothing at all wrong with spirituality but organised religion is a pox and should be wiped out, any good it does is vastly outweighed by all the damage it does and is done in it's name.

That’s not how the churches rolled for 1,600 years. However, the Catholic Church still holds to the traditionalists view of the Bible, that is it inspired but not inerrant. Fundamentalists don’t see it like that. They claim the Bible is word for word from God and as the men of God, He whispers to them so they will never stray from correct interpretation. You cannot go astray so long as you obey.

Yeah, but while religion is for the slightly dotty, the fundamentalists are the hardcore crazies, bring on the snake handlers and let's all speak in tongues, that's what I say. Gonna be religious may as well go completely bat shit crazy, why half arse it.

But was the main tool for humans to understanding and controlling the nexus of chaos and order until rational science came along. Lucifer is variant of the light god who brings the hidden knowledge of the gods to humans so they can live like gods too. Usually the light god gets punished. The Garden of Eden myth follows this model. Of course in Hebrew myth, there can be only one God, but there can be divine beings such as the Sons of God who “knew” human women. As such, the Serpent, a divine creature, destroys the perfect Order in the Garden and Chaos plagues humankind from then on.
