England 3-492 at stumps day 3 against Pakistan 556 all out on an absolute road. I'd say a draw is inevitable apart from the frequency that Pakistan collapse on roads. England will be looking for 650+ and then try to put some pressure on a Pakistan line up that has crumbled on many occasions even in the most placid conditions.

Root now has the most test runs of any Englishman. Cook says he’ll score more test runs than Tendulkar. Can’t see it to be honest. Although he should get to number 2 fairly comfortably (just needs another 801 runs.)

138th over: England 714-4 (Brook 264, Smith 7) England skip past their 710 for 7 against India in 2011, so this is now their highest score in a Test match since 1938.
“It’s just dawned on me that Root and Brook ran over 300 of their runs,” says Phil Withall. “That’s quite phenomenal in these conditions. Not just talented but also incredibly fit...”
That’s an excellent point, one that Nasser has also made a couple of times on TV. You could argue it’s the single most impressive thing about the innings.
Root was out lbw for 262
4th wicket partnership was 454. Highest in test match history. Highest English partnership for any wicket.

Not a single maiden over from the Pakistani bowlers.
Brook makes his 300 (in 310 balls.)

Pakistan 6-152 with only the elements that can save them. Another batting collapse at home on a road.

Just watched the highlights and yikes! Beautiful clean hitting from Brook but the standout is Pakistan's dismissals. Shaffique bowled playing a cross bat shot by a ball that didn't move at all and should have been straight driven. Masood inside edged a slower ball to short mid wicket which looked horrible. Babar got a fine edge on a ball on 6th stump that didn't move at all. Saim played a horrible shot and skied it. Rizwan didn't move his feet at all and was bowled by a ball he should have just gone across his stumps and wristed through the leg side. Shakeel looked good for 29 and then fetched the closest thing to a "wicket ball" of the day.

England win by an innings. Always some fun stats with ridiculous results like this. This is the highest first innings aggregate (1379) to produce a result. This is the first time a team has scored 550+ and lost by an innings in tests and only the 2nd time it's happened in FC cricket (Leicestershire did it in 2022). This is only the 2nd time England have won a test by an innings in Asia (India 1974 the other). And, arguably the weirdest, England are 3-0 under Brendon McGullum when conceding 550+ in the first innings.

Cam Green looks out for the summer. He's currently weighing up back surgery due to a stress fracture in his spine. He is weighing up whether to have surgery involving tying his vertebrea together with screws and titanium wire or rehabilitate the injury which may allow him to come back later in the series as a specialist bat. You'd have to think the selectors would have to pick a specialist opener and leave Head in the middle order at least to start the summer one way or another.

Green’s bowling isn’t worth elaborate surgery. Let him heal naturally and return as a batsman.

If you go rehab there's no guarantee it won't need surgery ultimately anyway. It's something you do specifically to have him available for the back end of BGT. Personally I'd have him get the surgery and have him for the entire 2025-26 Ashes series where his bowling was important last time.

And Australia have all but eliminated India from the Women's World T20 with a 9 run win. Kuar got them close but played the last over, in which they needed 14, horribly.
