Shubman Gill fractures husband thumb. Look, I'll just say it: Australia 5-0. I do have questions over our batting but nothing about India's top 6 inspires any confidence at all. I just can't see them scoring enough runs to seriously compete, let alone win, in any of the 5 tests.

India win the toss on a rather green looking pitch and bat first. This could go pear shaped very quickly. Ashwin.and Jadeja both dropped for Washington Sundar. Whoever's batting at stumps will have had the better of the day. I predict that will be Australia.

Jaiswal looks a walking wicket in these conditions. Out to a poor shot but looked bad throughout his 8 balls. Never heard of Padikkal but he looks little better. Rahul has looked ok in general. Getting beaten is fine if you're consistently inside the line.

Padikkal goes for a 23 ball gozza. Never looked like it. India, as I predicted, are not good enough with the stick to compete. Sharma back in for Padikkal in the next game. Gill should replace Jaiswal if his thumb heals. But with these two in the top 3? Pencil in 1-0.

I agree, but that's how the video umpire is told to officiate and it's not like India deserved any luck anyway while Australia's bowlers have been superb. Shame for Rahul who's the only one who's looked like wanting to dig in and play a proper test innings. |

India looking like not reaching triple figures here. Great bowling from Australia but some quite feeble batting too. Some very ordinary selections. Would have been more interesting for longer had India bowled.
We're now having the local commentators trying to talk up Sundar to keep viewers watching. Pant could be fun with nothing to lose, but the difference between what India have served up here and what you'd expect from Pakistan is negligible.
