Pretty good. Solid movie. Better than II but I still prefer I. Rocket has a helluva story, it really pulls at the heartstrings
However, I have to say it did get hippy kumbaya cringey at certain points. Luckily those moments were short
Im going to miss this particular set of characters. Goodbye Guardians. See you again some time

Did they kill any of the main characters? One could argue they all got their own happy endings for now. Surprisingly upbeat. Did any of the team die? Yes but it didn't stick. Rocket flatlands. Quill freezes. Drax takes a blast to the chest & the back from Nathan Fillion. Nebula takes some crazy damage without batting an eye. I have seen it twice & the second time hit harder. I usually look for spoilers, but couldn't find any before seeing it last night. Knowing what happens allows me to better absorb performances so yeah, last night I was looking for who dies because Gunn allegedly filmed everyone dying so no one knew, but it really works so well. High Evolutionary is a monster. Horrible.

It’s well paced with plenty of Marvel fun action. This is a two and half hour movie but it doesn’t feel like. Chris Pratt is in his hottie prime.
8/10.

Honestly I felt it was meh.
Though the story was different, I had the exact experience I did with II.
Perhaps it's because my expectations were high.

I still need to watch the last Thor film. I can't wait to see this though, although I'm sad their story is coming to a close. I kind of wish they'd have transitioned to a TV show like Farscape (an all time fave).

And he's really a doll as Star Lord. I enjoy him so much in this role. I feel like the characters have such great chemistry with each other in GOTG. Such fun films.

I want to take my kids but I haven’t seen much since Endgame, do I need to see any of the newer ones to understand it?

Saw it Thursday first showtime. Best MCU movie in years. Since Infinity War for me. Wonderful film. Makes me excited that James Gunn will be helping the DCU along here for the next several years.
I was upset with Adam Warlock. He's basically now forgotten overall in the MCU. They do this so much these days. Thankfully he wasn't made out to be the next best thing like others have been then tossed aside.

Somewhere along the line MCU stuffed it up

I want to take my kids but I haven’t seen much since Endgame, do I need to see any of the newer ones to understand it? The opening credits are ONLY Guardians. None of the usual all the Marvel heroes. No. This is totally Guardians. Thanos gets mentioned. The blip/Gamora dying & coming back different. I can't think of any of the other heroes being mentioned. So this is apparently his plans from all along, not just since getting fired so it's what he always intended. Spoiler-there is a scene where one of the experiments tells Rocket that this has always been his story & that sort of feels right. One can look at the other 2 movies & say this has been Rocket's story & this movie IS very much Rocket's story even though he is lying on a medbed for a majority of the current time story (if you hate flashbacks, skip it because we see much of this in flashbacks about Rocket's origin) But it is also a maturing story. The family has grown & hits that point many families meet. It feels totally right. There is some complaints of animal abuse. High Evolutionary is a cold, callous scientist. He burns his failed experiments which are animals he evolves into higher life forms. He is seeking perfection but NEVER finds it. (It is a flash fire thing in the scene they show. A turtle is evolved. HG is dissatisfied so has the being burned inside the tube in a flash). So yeah. CGI animals are hurt. If the kids can't handle that, don't take them. We see Rocket after one of his operations to evolve him & his first word is "hurts" as I recall.
