Bullshit. Any incident like that will always be discussed, especially if someone dies as a result. When McSorley hit Brashear intentionally with his stick, the attacker was white and the victim was black, and the incident was discussed for months, without any racial overtones that I remember. And the case did go to trial.
Bullshit back at you. This place does not operate in a vacuum and even if it did, there was a now-deleted thread about it which made it about race. And no, it wasn't created by a hyperbolic lefty bitching about it; it was dragged in by one of our board's legitimate racists and Nazis, prime. I believe it was titled "White hockey player killed by black guy" or something to that effect and it went on for about 4 pages before getting the axe. Gwyn then attempted to restart the conversation and her thread was deleted. Though to her great credit, while I know she pines nostalgically for the days when V1 was essentially Stormfront, she did not highlight the races involved. I can only guess why it was deleted as well. And here we are on round three with a fresh new thread dedicated to the same topic, this time with a neutral OP. That is in addition to the reactions widespread on social media elsewhere which have made race an element of the story, largely instigated by racists and trolls. And the player in question is now a target of racial hate. That is the understanding and context available when I arrived here. I don't think this needs to be about race at all and I'm not going to harp on too much about that element of the story. But unfortunately, it's been made about race now. You are right. When you wrote about “Internet traction” I misinterpreted as you saying that if both players had been white, the incident wouldn’t have made international news. THAT I strongly disagree with; it would have still been widely reported and debated in the media and discussed by hockey fans not only in Britain where it happened but here in North America and in hockey countries in continental Europe as well. But here on this board and other social media, yes, you are right, there wouldn’t have been multiple long threads on this subject.

While playing a physical sport it's not exactly a case of Hercule Poirot. Yes investigate but no one is going to prison based on the video anyway. I would probably agree. I don't know the details of the British legal system, but there would be no way to prove intent beyond a reasonable doubt. It is pretty coincidental that this was caused by the person who is the dirtiest player in the league (or claimed to be anyway, I haven't seen actual numbers). Then they'll need to take his previous claims about being dirty into account when investigating but based on the video alone the case is a non starter.

I just gave an example of another time. Look up Richard Zednik. Keep in mind that one's not for the faint of heart. That was 15 years ago. Aslo, he was not drop kicked in the neck. He was on the ground. So it's not even close to the same thing. No he wasn't; he was standing up when the blade hit him.

Just reverse the races and the people whose opinion would change are the true racists.

It did look like he kicked out when his legs were in the air. Did he kick out intentionally? If so, how did he see Johnson behind him? And if murder was intention, how did he know to place his blade in the sweet spot between all that body protection? Petgrave is wearing a helmet which limits his peripheral vision. Also they cannot turn their necks as much. This rush to condemn the only black man in Brit pro hockey, that I know of, as cold blooded killer of an innocent hockey player is quite telling. This is why I called the other thread a lynching…or perhaps a high tech-lynching. What. The. Fuck. Is. Wrong. With you?

No, you don't. You have balance on ice. Once that balance is gone, you're going wherever momentum takes you. And that can mean your legs swinging around in the air. And clearly they do swing up to neck level because this isn't even the first time this has happened. False. An expert skater can use the blades to control momentum. Ever here of a "snowplow stop"? Or "T stop"? Or you can spin in place to dilute momentum. And even if you legs kept continuing their motions, it would not lead them to flying at neck level as that is not a natural motion of skating. And how often does this happen? Not very often and in this instance he went to great lengths to even make it happen.
How deep into your anus did you have to go to pull this nonsense from?

Why the fuck are we talking about WIllie O'Ree? Republicans (or white people's) reactions?
This is a freak accident. Nobody woke up that morning thinking they were going to roundhouse kick a guy in the throat with a skate on - and nobody could pull that off if they did (wake up thinking that). Some of you are out of your fucking mind.

Some of you are out of your fucking mind. It is illegal to jump like he did in hockey and he clearly tried to kick him. There is no reasonable explanation for why a hockey player would lift his skate at neck level and kick except if he was trying to injure someone. Every hockey player knows this. If he was trying to make a legitimate play, he would have been leaning in for a check. He was not even attempting such. Dude's a murderer.

People certainly never raise their legs when trying to regain their balance...
Derek Chauvin is an victim of the judicial system and this guy is an assassin with skates. You don't know what murder means, you absolute retard of a man.

Horrific accident, will hopefully lead to rule changes that over 18 year olds also have to wear neck protection.

None of these sports are done with weighted feet like skating is. Horrible argument. Have you ever played any sports not on a Playstation? Apparently not. There is no reason whatsoever to put skates at your shoulder level while playing hockey. Not one. You would only do it if you were trying to hurt someone which is so obviously the case here. He deliberately lifts it up and kicks the guy.

You posting photo that grossly mischaracterizes what happen is proof you’re a racist.
