Israel is a secular government but we are the homeland and a safe place for Jews.
We don't want people to come here to remove Jews from the Jewish religion.
We aren't allowed to proselytize to bring others into our religion but we don't forbid people to leave our religion either.
It's purely a personal choice but it can be uncomfortable when people try to ask us to join their religion. I've had it happen to me twice in Israel (and one of the times, it was right outside my apartment building). I was very polite about it and the proselytizers gave up quickly (while being polite, too).
It happened many more times in America (where people came to my door and knocked). :)
I was polite.

I don't see any authoritative sources there. In the Wikipedia article on "Greater Israel", Herzl is not even mentioned, and your map does not appear. I believe that map was created by one of the Arab countries, or perhaps by the Soviets, in order to make it seem like Israel is inherently expansionist. In other words, it is a lie. Herzl wanted Uganda. Why not the Nile? No, I do not believe Israel has any serious goal of conquering a "Greater Israel" as in that map. The point is to show the arbitrary nature of Israel's claim that God gave them that land. Israel's declaration of independence does not even mention the claim that God gave them the land. Instead, it points out that Jewish immigrants to the land built cities and towns, drained swamps, and so forth, and that the Balfour Declaration, the League of Nations mandate resolution, and the UN partition resolution all acknowledged the right of Jews to build a country there. |

Yes, Israel makes a religious claim to the land going back to the Torah. You're being dishonest if you deny that.

Ask yourself why the Christian population of Bethlehem (controlled by the Palestinian Authority) has declined, and why there are almost no Christians left in Gaza (controlled by Hamas). Settler sewage spit in the faces of Christians, and Christians in general are treated with disdain by Israeli Jews. Most Israeli Jews want special rights for only Jews, and I guarantee you are amongst them. It makes me sick how so many evangelicals love Israel while the Israeli Jews despise them and many of them would spit on them if they came near them. |
