God, you need to work an election. I have my renewal that I need to process. Yes, I can register to vote although i am already am registered. You think the DMV doesn't know who is getting those non-citizen DL? Do you think they count the ballots of everyone? They don't toss the ballot of anyone not on the list.Like when I worked the election we had a roster. The person had to identify their address, then sign to get their ballot. If their name wasn't on the list, they voted provisional & had their vote put into a separate color envelope to be verified before it was counted.
That is all assuming everyone involved is behaving honestly...........and we know that's not the case.
How do you know? You think illegals are deliberately voting in the hope.they will be caught & deported? Most of them are too busy working to bother voting

You think illegals have any fear of deportation these days?
Most of the tens of millions? Well, that's comforting if only a fraction of them are involved then.

There's absolutely no valid reason why you shouldn't be asked to show ID when you vote, none at all. If you cannot afford an ID, let's have a Democrat add an amendment to the legislation that gives out free ID to certain people, if there's not one in here already.

The funny part about this is that there's a very easy way to require people to present ID to vote without running afoul of the Constitutional prohibition on poll taxes. Provide that ID free of charge. It's what they do in Georgia. GOP resistance to giving people free ID is all the proof you need that this is less about preventing voter fraud and more about limiting turnout.

They give IDs to people over 64 here. Not Drivers licenses. ID cards. Sis never drove, but gets her California ID for free now. I have to pay $45 for my DL before my birthday next month.

You already need those to fly, drive, enter a doctor's office, etc etc etc Even attend a political party's convention.
If only you needed them to buy a lethal weapon.

Exactly, everyone has to pay for a driver's license. Which in turn is used as ID verification. Some people choose not to drive, but they still need ID regardless. My assumption would be it's the older people who might have a harder time getting an ID. Make it easier and let's end this debate once and for all.

The bill is about showing proof of citizenship, not I.D.

Do you have a list of ALL the things you can't do in this country without an ID? Many of them Govt related But you do have to provide ID to register to vote, dude. Yes you do. In Ohio you have to prove proof who you are and your legal residents.

They could pretend to go along with a free ID program but then close most of the DMV offices in undesirable areas or reduce the hours to some comically narrow window so that it's impossible for them to reasonably process the actual number of people that need services. Which isn't even a hypothetical example because it's already happened.
