They give IDs to people over 64 here. Not Drivers licenses. ID cards. Sis never drove, but gets her California ID for free now. I have to pay $45 for my DL before my birthday next month. Exactly, everyone has to pay for a driver's license. Which in turn is used as ID verification. Some people choose not to drive, but they still need ID regardless. My assumption would be it's the older people who might have a harder time getting an ID. Make it easier and let's end this debate once and for all. A lot of older people, my folks included, stop driving (or are stopped from driving). What's the point of getting that DL? My parents both stopped renewing their licenses at some point so their IDs were expired.

Your license expires, and you don't stop being you, yet they are conditioned to refuse an expired license as a form of ID.

Why is it that most folks caught voting illegally were Republicans and elected officials willing to back Trump’s coup were Republicans. It’s frustrating that you keep blaming the wrong people, usually the poorest. This is call talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Their paranoia never lessens no matter how much you try to ameliorate it. Actually giving in to them only makes them greedier.

papamihelWhat form of ID do you use to vote in Israel? Internal ID. The situation is different in Israel where the Ministry of the Interior has all the information on where people live. There are voting stations in every neighborhood and you can only vote there unless you are abroad or in the military. Mail votes are strictly monitored. Every voting station has a list of people who can vote there. You can't simply walk into a station.... I worked twice in such stations and know people who worked in the regional counting centers. Whatever I might think about our political system, the election process is well designed and extremely hard to hack.

So like I picked up my voter material-ballots, etc. Took it to the poll ALONG WITH THE VOTER ROSTER. Anyone not on that roster had to vote provisional. They filled.all the info out on the back of the peach provisional envelope. If they did not vote at their Precinct & the info matched what was on their registration, the Registrar of Voters counted the ballot in the envelope. One cannot just vote at any poll in California. Mail ballots have info on the envelope & one signs that so if it matches, the ballot inside is opened & counted.

So drivers licenses for life? Is that what I said? No, no, I don't think I said that at all. You have been so grumpy. So what does this suggest? Licenses have dates on them. When it passes, just keep accepting it? My folks could have gotten an ID card. Not sure why they didn't other than they didn't see a need for it. However, when I go to the doctor they used to ask for my ID. (Now, apparently it is hooked into DMV so they have my picture in the system) We show our identification as a form of citizenship. Mine is a "Real ID" or whatever meaning I had to get my birth certificate to prove who I was even though I have been driving since I was 16 (so some 45 yrs when I got the ID). But after 9/11 Congress passed the Real ID to prove citizens are who they are. Protect us all from terrorists.

It's just an idiosyncrasy of mine. I know, most people love it, but I never did. When your DL expires, you can't drive on it legally anymore, but does an expired DL stop identifying you as who you are?

You already need those to fly, drive, enter a doctor's office, etc etc etc Even attend a political party's convention.
If only you needed them to buy a lethal weapon.
legal? or otherwise?
I need an ID to get a prescription. But if I just check in with my local drug dealer in the 8th Grade, then no ID required.

And the simple solution to that is to give them an old folks ID after they decide to quit driving..........one that doesn't need to be renewed.
