Paris Olympics starting officially in two days, although some events (FOOTball and Rugby Sevens) have already started).
Looking forward to it. With the six-hour time difference, I suppose I will only be able to watch anything live on weekends, and bits and pieces in the morning while having breakfast.

I don't hate it but I am not particularly interested in it either. I might watch bits and pieces of the Gold Medal game if I happen to be sitting in front of the TV at the time. But as a big fan of international sports I am genuinely pleased to see LeBron James taking part in the Olympics.

I rank it 3rd favourite sports after cricket and football. Just that USA on paper has no actual rival but if I recall last year German team beat them in some competition. |

Canada's coach has been dismissed over the scandal. There is talk of Canada's medals in past games being rescinded (Canada won gold in Tokyo). I guess there is some indication that this was not an isolated incident? That would be a shame. And all for what? A slight advantage over New Freaking Zealand? |

Just finished watching the opening ceremony, on tape delay and fast-forwarding through some bits. Wow, I was impressed. Great idea to do it in the city and not in a stadium. It worked out really well! Of course Paris is Paris, I don’t know if there is any other city in the world where the same concept would have worked so well.
And that ending with Céline Dion singing Edith Piaf from the Eiffel Tower! I am by no means a fan of Céline Dion, but I had goosebumps!
