The NRA and the GOP got us in this situation, 200 mass shootings already this year. No other nation sends children to school without a guarantee that they won't be killed before dismissal time. If nothing is done, the situation is going to get worse. Random mass shootings have become so routine, the thoughts and prayers line trotted out so often, that the rest of the world looks at us, appalled. The NRA and the GOP are the devious little Fs that have destroyed life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Now, we're only free to die.
are ya crazy? A guarantee? schoolkids have gotten killed in other countries. It's happened.
We've made celebrities out of these people, they're famous if for nothing else but killing others. Yeah, I don't bother with the thoughts and prayers.
And I really don't care what the rest of the world thinks.......many of them are still flocking to this country, so it must not be all that bad.
Pay attention to what jaypat tells you about the NRA. They're not the biggest group, most gun owners do not belong to them and they certainly don't speak for all of us. You've just bought into the pitch from the media.
It's a scary world. The planet is always trying to kill us. The sooner kids learn this fact, the better off they'll be.
Last I checked, the NRA isn't even in the top 50 biggest donors to government officials. This means anyone claiming an official is scared of losing their support is lying...there's more than 50 donor groups who can out-bid them in an instant. So officials willing to be bought are not kowtowing for the NRA's pennies where there are dollars to entertain doing the opposite...there must be something else...like civil liberties or a constitution or 'gasp' the views of their constituents that they have some attachment to.

I find being on the other side of the pond most helpful. Good strategy, could you maybe put my kids and I up at your place for uh….11 years until they’re both ready for university? 🙂

You think 50 is a decent death age.If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.Mickey Mantle
I don't think that's how I phrased it. I said it just doesn't surprise me to see people drop in their 50s. Just this past month 2 former classmates died. They may have taken themselves out, I'm not sure. But another guy my age that went to a local school dropped, as well. So it does happen. We've lost at least 5-10 out of my graduating class of just over 200.
EVERYONE says that after the fact when the real pain starts to hit. But they're almost always just lying to themselves. Mickey was a big drunk....... just like (IIRC) one of the members of Fleetwood Mac that got a new liver transplanted......and then was got boozing it up just a year or so later.
Which member was that? A waste of a damn good liver is what sounds like, and probably pulled strings because of who he was. But I can't cricize too much, I'm vaping while I write this. BUT, I have cut down...I have one more pod and I'm hoping to make it my last. We'll see.

These people thinking there was ever safety guaranteed sending children to school are delusional. They seem to be unaware of the thousands of children that die at school, or from school yearly, that have nothing to do with firearms. Hell, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death on school campuses. We're talking thousands yearly. Let's not even get into school bullying, and the resulting suicide. 4,400 young people in America commit suicide in a typical year. You know a good number of those are attributable to events at school. I have know idea how any loving parent anywhere in the world ever thought they had some type of guarantee sending children to school. Kids are more likely to die traveling to and from school, than in a school mass shooting. And even still, school is statistically safer for children than anywhere else, including their own homes. The media does a real number on people. And what's crazy is people know the media hyperbolic about CERTAIN THINGS, just not the things that they foolishly buy into. Very strange.

It may have even been David Crosby?......... I thought it was Fleetwood because I remember it was on video with a guy confronting him in a bar........and he was skinny, had long hair and a beard. And they did mention his fame likely got him 'bumped to the front of the line'.
If you decide to smoke or vape until you need a new lung........then that should be taken into account, imo. There are others who actually just got a bad genetic draw that would likely last longer because they won't go back to their destructive habit, like people who damaged themselves often do.

It's important to be made aware of numbers and stats like that so you can make a rational judgement call on what to prioritize on your 'list of fears'.
I'd guess we're still losing a decent amount of kids to school buses or other drivers zooming around the bus, as well.

What other nation has had the no. of mass shootings in schools that the U.S. has had? You don't care what the rest of the world thinks because you're in an echo chamber. We used to be like the rest of the world, send kids to school in the morning and expect them home in the afternoon. We're no longer normal. Some people, like you, have adapted to crazy and are fine with it. Others are not. We don't want kids having nightmares about lockdown drills and active shooters. Some places of the world are scarier than others. When it comes to school shootings, the U.S. is the scariest. . .and that's unacceptable. It's shameful and we allowed it to happen.

The U.S. is decided uncivilized when it comes to guns. It's a terrible distinction, one the rest of the world does not want. You don't know what you're talking about. You only know what gun haters show you. You seem incapable of wrapping your head around just how many guns there are in America that aren't connected with anything you or the rest of the world fears...so you assume incorrectly that they are part of the problem instead of it's solution...which adds to the problem. If you are an American with no asterix on your civil liberties...you have access to guns the same as anyone. And if you are not a mass shooter or homicidal maniac...then access to guns is not the problem. The reality is, humanity becomes uncivilized without enforceable boundaries on civilized conduct. Enforceable is the key word, and has the root word "force" in it for a reason. The gun issue is all about who enforces those boundaries...whoever possesses force wields a proportional amount of control over the civilization. It is obvious that in a "free" society...the public must be in possession of a significant amount of force. And the gun community is right for wanting neither government, nor the bad guys to have it all. (because government and bad guys can become the same people very easily...which is more carnage than anything you are complaining about today) We are constitutionally entitled to a substantial share of it. Always. You seem to not have a clue that children are being massacred in their classrooms. Start there. Maybe then I'll read the rest of your post. Until you can look at death, justify the slaughter of kindergarteners and first graders in classrooms , don't bother.

I didn't say mass shootings........... I claimed dead schoolkids. Because it's happened elsewhere.
We haven't been like the rest of the world. That's why millions want to come here.
We have gotten crazier.........now let's argue about how or why that's happened. It isn't anything I'm a part of. I do not have any tolerance for crazy, trust me on that.
Stop with the stupid drills and fear mongering for starters.
I find all sorts of things here unacceptable........but my fellow citizens revel in it. Oh, well. We've eliminated shame in this country......that's a HUGE part of the problem, imo

Literally thousands of children dying at school yearly in this country. If 20 of them die by firearm, it's time to take away rights from the people that haven't shot children. Meanwhile, the mass shooters just move to the next best, or even greater option for mass murder. This is exactly how sheeple think. Their idea of freedom is turning the US into a country like those that arrest and charge people for saying something that they don't like, about their selected groups.
