How do you know his life isn't nor ever was in any danger from tornados? I'm pretty sure I know it has been, I know the region in which he resides and tornados are not unheard of there. Geez, you suck at this. Actually, you sick at reading comprehension. He implied that he was never in any danger by ridiculing the fact they did tornado drills and he deemed them unnecessary. Go back and trying reading this time, slower if you have to. Second, he is not in school. We were discussing whether these safety drills in schools in school were necessary or, in his words, “stupid”. If his life was ever truly in danger from a tornado, then he would surely see the value in tornado drills, where hundreds of students would need to be led to safety in a short amount of time, and having students practice this on a periodic basis would save lives when a tornado actually hits (or a fire, or a school shooter, etc). Do you share his opinion that drills are “stupid”? Are you prepared to double down on his stupid? You suck at obtaining people's consent before representing them. Don't care about his opinion on drills...I'm enjoying picking apart the virtue you use to mask your intolerance.

If the quality of the parenting determines academic performance, then the education system doesn't serve a purpose. That's the flaw in yours. Wrong. You need some criticism thinking skills to really consider this subject appropriately ; something you lack, and this is going way off topic from the original subject of the thread. Critical thinking skills are characterized by goal-oriented and methodological approaches to questions and challenges best addressed with reason and intellect. You present nothing that demand such tools. You use the term critical thinking the way a cargo cult builds the mockup of a passenger jet.

Critical thinking skills are … …Something you lack. As I said. Next. Talk is cheap, and yours is worth what I paid: nothing.

You suck at obtaining people's consent before representing them. Don't care about his opinion on drills...I'm enjoying picking apart the virtue you use to mask your intolerance. So you really don’t have anything of value to add to the discussion. Got it. No, what really happened was you so saw my name, didn’t pay attention to what was really being discussed, and took a losing position just to argue. That is actually what happened. Nothing you would find of value. I rather insist on it. That entirely depends on what I stand to win. You see, non-leftists cannot get rid of intolerant, toxic people like yourself in any civilized way...but we can exclude you from being taken seriously...by treating you in no way you can take seriously. You will either self-segregate from the conversation...or devolve to where any participation on your part is a hinderance to be rejected by the rest of us. Either way, what I do helps keep you from being as much of a bother to decent people as you'd like to be and are otherwise free to be. I can't/won't infringe on that freedom...but I can help make it desirable for everyone that you exercise it elsewhere, or with it's appropriate impotence. I mean, you aren't exactly here to make friends with me either, are you?

Talk is cheap, and yours is worth what I paid: nothing. Cool. Because I have a feeling that’s all you can afford. There may actually be a cream for that...feeling. Speak to your doctor.

Why would I? Per usual, you miss the most important thing about school shootings - children die. When it's your child splattered on the floor, may your "rights" assuage your grief. Talk about cold comfort. A child dying in a car accident where the driver slams into a guard rail...is no less tragic or gruesome than one who dies in a car accident not involving a guard rail...and no reason whatsoever to abolish guardrails. Same with firearms in America. Save the dramatics. The child was killed immediately during the car accident. Not quite the same as what some of the children in Uvalde went through. Calling the police and begging for help. Ultimately gunned down beyond recognition, DNA samples needed to confirm identities. Not the same at all. If you don't know that a room full of children losing their lives in horrific carnage IS dramatic, HORRIFYING, you need to spend serious time on a shrink's couch. And this has happened repeatedly since Columbine. Spare us the profoundly ignorant false equivalencies.

Eh, 20 kids. Just 20 this year, no biggie. Over the years a lot more? So what? Their brains were all over the floor? Who cares? They were so blown apart they couldn't be recognized? Eh, so what? So some parents had to buy little coffins. Good for the death industry. The guy that made the coffins for the Uvalde kids that got blown away, he gave the parents a deal. A deal!
As crass as this will sound to you.........THAT's the point.
On the long list of reasons kids die or get killed, school shootings are wayyyyyyyyyyyy down the list. So in realty, no biggie.
But our media has successfully ramped up your fear factor. I'll give them that.
"So in reality, no biggie" - I don't believe you're a parent. No parent would say this. I can't imagine what a parent of one of the children murdered at Sandy Hook or other school shootings would say in response to this. Cruel, INHUMANE, sick. What mass school shooting has the media reported on that didn't actually happen? Which one was made up? Are you one of Alex Joneses conspiracy theorists that Sandy Hook didn't happen? Every one of the school shootings reported actually happened. Parents who love their children OF COURSE are going to worry. That's HUMAN.

But car accidents are still ACCIDENTS. They can be explained in most cases. Having your children or loved ones killed in a mass shooting on the other hand is completely senseless, beyond horrific, defies logic and could have been prevented if not for an outdated constitutional amendment and well...boys and their toys.

And I wouldn't want these people anywhere near my kids or any kids.

In the UK we were getting advice fro the police on what to do in the event of a terrorist attacking us armed with a machete..
the advice was "run"
Funnily, not one police service responded to my question of "what if I'm stood next to woman with a baby? Should I just run away and leave her?"

There is no ultimate solution. Civilization can only do the best it can with what it has. Civilization has guns, so the obvious approach is doing the best that it can do with them as well. The U.S. is decided uncivilized when it comes to guns. It's a terrible distinction, one the rest of the world does not want. Its unfair to compare the US to other Western Nations. European nations have been culturally homogenous for centuries, leading to very high trust societies. The USA doesn't have that, so doesn't operate the same way. Europeans have had little need to be armed but that is changing. As an Englishman, I don't want guns in the UK and I don't want to own one. Were I to move to America I would absolutely buy one and learn how to use it and maintain it.
