I can justify them just a few years earlier if you'd like. ;)
Literally thousands of children dying at school yearly in this country. If 20 of them die by firearm, it's time to take away rights from the people that haven't shot children. Meanwhile, the mass shooters just move to the next best, or even greater option for mass murder. This is exactly how sheeple think. Their idea of freedom is turning the US into a country like those that arrest and charge people for saying something that they don't like, about their selected groups.
The funniest part to me.........cuz that eliminating freedom thing is just pathetic.......... is how most of the countries they claim to admire so much would NEVER let them in for a variety of reasons.

Obviously they should sneak into those countries, and just claim asylum. See how that works out.

I have a feeling most other countries would be much more sane about their asylum rulings than our country has been.

Just 20 this year, no biggie. Over the years a lot more? So what? Their brains were all over the floor? Who cares? They were so blown apart they couldn't be recognized? Eh, so what? So some parents had to buy little coffins. Good for the death industry. The guy that made the coffins for the Uvalde kids that got blown away, he gave the parents a deal. A deal!

You haven't addressed anything in my post. You just added your hysteria. Losing a child is horrible, no matter how. The parents of that lost thousands of children at school in that year are no less broken up about it. I've seen every type of child death you can think of. I've seen a baby murdered with a shovel. Nothing that I've seen, nor your descriptions do nothing to make me want to give up my rights. I'm more concerned about identifying and targeting people that do these types of things.

You mean the drills that teach students what to do in case of a shooter? You want them to be unprepared? Sure. Let’s do away with fire drills and tornado drills too. *smdh*
We did those tornado drills multiple times during my school years. Wanna know how many times a tornado hit? Those poor kids that had to do the nuclear drills probably feel even more abused. Meanwhile the test scores and literacy rates are dropping yet again.
You guys must be proud of all that you've accomplished in scaring and stressing young, impressionable minds so.

Per usual, you miss the most important thing about school shootings - children die. When it's your child splattered on the floor, may your "rights" assuage your grief. Talk about cold comfort.

As crass as this will sound to you.........THAT's the point.
On the long list of reasons kids die or get killed, school shootings are wayyyyyyyyyyyy down the list. So in realty, no biggie.
But our media has successfully ramped up your fear factor. I'll give them that.

I'm not missing it at all. In fact, I'm aware of the many different ways that children die, and which ones are the greater threat. As a parent, and grandparent that's my job. The things that I would do to you, and a thousand people that looked like you to protect my children is beyond your scope of imagination. But what I won't do is ask that all law abiding American citizens give up their rights so I can FEEL safer. Find a safer school for your children, or make your schools safer. I did the one, and am in favor of the other. But after getting my children and grandchildren into schools that have adequate safety measures and personnel for dealing with firearms, I have to be cautious about the thousands of other things that could kill them at school. That's just realism. And I've lost friends, and relatives, some even children to gun violence. I was even first shot at 11 years old. That doesn't change my mind about law abiding citizens and rights.

A child dying in a car accident where the driver slams into a guard rail...is no less tragic or gruesome than one who dies in a car accident not involving a guard rail...and no reason whatsoever to abolish guardrails. Same with firearms in America. Save the dramatics.

Yep, should be common sense. People from the hood quickly learn to stop the inborn instinct to "freeze". That is bad. Freezing is bad. Running is good.
So, no more "duck and cover".

Why don’t you think about the schools that were hit by a tornado? Why is it always just about you and what YOU’VE experienced? Because he cares more about his life than you care about it...and he's right to. And that makes you a liar in a way, for how can you honestly say you "care" about the lives of others when you have no regard for the lives of the others to whom you are speaking? Who are these imaginary people you stand up for and protect at the apparent expense of people you can actually talk to? This country isn't populated by the former, it's populated by the latter.

Why don’t you think about the schools that were hit by a tornado? Why is it always just about you and what YOU’VE experienced? As far as reading scores and math scores, I doubt these drills are the cause of lower test scores. FFS, it’s not as if they are doing drills all day every day. The low test scores, parents have to take some responsibility for. Many students are being successful and testing high. As parental involvement drops off, test scores do as well. Guess who educated those parents a generation earlier? The same system passing the blame on to them today.

Hey dumbass, HIS life isn’t in any danger. It’s the kids in school that are being exposed to multiple risks, and drills are designed to prepare students in the events that something happens. I had fire drills every year in school, and in my place of work. I’ve been in zero fires, but if I am, I’m prepared. Teaching kids what to do to protect themselves and keep themselves safe is unfortunately a necessity. How do you know his life isn't nor ever was in any danger from tornados? I'm pretty sure I know it has been, I know the region in which he resides and tornados are not unheard of there. Geez, you suck at this.

Guess who educated those parents a generation earlier? The same system passing the blame on to them today. The education system didn’t teach those kids how to parent. That’s the flaw in your logic. If the quality of the parenting determines academic performance, then the education system doesn't serve a purpose. That's the flaw in yours.
