Yes, no corruption in government would be nice. Now do you want public spending beyond what we currently have, which we are having to borrow to meet already? Or a reduction in the national debt. You cannot have both. Easy. More public spending. So why are you moaning about the National Debt then? You want it to increase.

How many people that have suffered should the UK accept? 1,000,000? 10,000,000? 100,000,000? There are billions of people suffering in the World, millions right here. We can't continue to take in huge numbers of people. Our infrastructure and services cannot cope. Then lobby your MP. We are signatories to laws and we are even making it as difficult as possible for people to be allowed their legal right of claiming Asylum. It seems your problem is with every political party unless you know one who is going to tear up those international agreements. BTW, we don't "take in" huge numbers, take out the HK and Ukraine numbers Sunak championed we take in far less than other countries of similar sizes that are also legal signatories to the same charters. On the scale we presently have you could take in similar numbers and in two decades you would have reached about 1% of the current UK population, and that is going on current record breaking numbers that are not the norm and according to a Conservative MP this morning are already dropping. Hysterical fearmongering and throwing silly numbers around (100 million? ) are pure Farage territory, stick to facts, there is a debate to be had, but you never get it with hyperbole and skewed reality. The problem most people have is not even with the numbers when they are against immigrants, they welcome Ukraine ones yet do everything to oppose Syrian ones, I wonder why that may be. Whats funny is when we DO talk about leaving these treaties and conventions, you lot start screeching about it. Now combine "refugees" with legal immigration. Where are we in 20 years then? Because we've increased our population by about 15,000,000 in 30 years and for some reason our services are worse than they were. Its almost like importing millions of people doesn't solve the problems like leftists claim. And currently we spend about £4b on refugees in the UK. And did I say 100m was likely? Clown

If I, a European, decided to cross the Channel in a small boat filled to capacity, people would probably consider me as a candidate for the Darwin Awards. You would only have to be desperate enough.

That is absolutely nothing in terms of the overal picture.
When the Tories took over in 2009, the national debt was £998 billion
It is now £2.5 trillion
They've conned you. You fell for it.
Yes and one might suspect that the financial crisis and the pandemic affected the national debt. Why do you think people are unaware of this? The problem is that people like you piss and moan that the government doesn't spend enough money, then cry about how the national debt is increasing. Pick one. That's a convenient excuse, but not every country got their national debt more than doubled during Covid.

Its currently at £2.5T

These people are not desperate. They are in no danger in France - there is no desperation. Stop using another bullshit, utterly false reason the left always LIES about to justify your position. Get a genuine reason.

There is no reason at all any Albanians should be crossing the channel to enter the country illegally. They're a European state, no war, no political repression. They could easily apply legally. Yet they don't. Makes you wonder why, doesn't it?

It's naivety in the extreme. Or they are scared of something, e.g. going against the mantra.

IF you say "Refugees welcome", you don't get hate mobs on social media, you don't risk your job, you don't risk getting banned and you don't risk getting arrested or put on a police naughty list.

Just a reminder to some on this thread. That his father risked his son's life for the chance of migrating to Europe even though he had already obtained asylum in Turkey?

I mean, now it's still unthinkable of, but in 10-15 years time?

That's the Daily Mail who's owner lives in France as a"non dom", paid himself 20 million last year and has the Daily Mail set up as an off shore entity based in Bermuda. Still, they can lecture us about caring about Britain.
