There is a very big rumour that Lewis Hamilton will drive for ferrari in 2025 Interesting. Would he be the #1 driver though? Significantly older than both incumbents but a clear upgrade on both.

I saw that story about Hamilton moving to Ferrari and thought to myself ”that is the most boring item of news I’ve ever read in my life”!
I was overcome with a completely overpowering feeling of ennui!

The domestic seasons in US and Australia are underway with William Byron winning in a crazy finish at the Daytona 500 and Porsche's Matt Campbell finishing the Bathurst 12 hour driving his team to a 2s win.
World SBK kicks off at Phillip Island this weekend and the Supercars (Australian Touring Cars) gets underway in the Bathurst 500.
F1 is a week and a half away. Indycar and MotoGP both start back 3 weekends from now.

In the WorldSBK Kawasaki's Sam Lowes won the two Sunday races while Ducati's rookie Nicolas Bulega won the season opener. Rea had a disastrous first weekend for Yamaha, crashing out of Race two having registered a solitary point in the first two races. Toprak was competitive on the BMW before suffering mechanical failure in the final race.
A thrilling finish in the NASCAR Atlanta race with William Byron, Daniel Suarez and Kyle Busch needing a photo finish to determine the winner. Suarez won: his second career victory and first on an oval.
In the Supercars it was the same 3 men on the podium both races. Race one was won by 888 racing's Broc Feebey from his team mate Will Brown and Walkinshaw Andretti's Chaz Mostert. Race two was won by Brown with Mostert 2nd and Feeney third. Strange season with last year's top two drivers Brodie Kostecki and Shane Van Gisburgen absent due to a contract dispute and moving to America respectively.

Aussie on the podium in WorldSBK! Former Moto2 World Champion Remy Gardiner caps off a consistent weekend with a 3rd place and fastest lap in Race 2 in the Netherlands. Fun round of races with Bautista winning the sprint after falling back to 10th in the first lap. Toprak won an excellent Race 2, pulling away only in the final lap or so. The rain affected first race was won by rookie Nicholas Spinelli who looked like falling back in the pack on a drying track only for a red flag to give him the race win.

Ayrton Senna died thirty years ago today.
Tragedy and largely preventable. Led to rule changes that made car modifications and overall driving conditions much safer. Ironically Senna was outspoken about the need for reform, but it was his desperation for a competitive car "improved" on the fly to compete with Schumacher's Ford that led to the accident which took his life. It was a massive black eye for Williams and the sport.

In MotoGP Jorge Martin wins the Sprint Race in Spain after Marc Marquez crashed out while leading. There was carnage throughout with Vinales crashing out of 3rd, Binder, Alex Marquez and Marini all crashing within seconds of each other out of 4th, 5th and 6th respectively (though it looked like Marini crashed deliberately trying to protect Binder). World Champion Pecco Bagnaia was sandwiched between Binder and Marquez and crashed out of 5th on the 2nd lap. Rookie Pedro Acosta finished second while Fabio Quatararo had a legendary ride, starting from 23rd to finish on the podium and he soaked it in from an appreciative crowd too.

Pecco won the Grand Prix, holding off Marc Marquez after Martin inexplicably crashed out while leading.

Absolute banger in the Le Mans MotoGP. Martin, Bagnaia and Marquez all within 2 tenths of a second of each other going into the last lap. Marquez picked off Bagnaia halfway through the lap which gave a fading Martin the space he needed to eke out the won. A brilliant ride from Marquez and Martin not far behind either.
Jorge is now 38 points clear of Pecco in the points standings after winning the sprint race which Pecco crashed out of.

Alex Palou won a very clean Grand Prix of Indianapolis (1 yellow) from Will Power. Palou is 10 points clear of Power at the top of the standings.

Go Lewis! Didn't see that coming.
In the MotoGP Jorge Martin absolutely threw away a race win crashing out on the penultimate lap. Bagnaia took the win and a 10 point lead in the standings. Italian looking good for his 3rd consecutive World Championship.

Will mother fucking Power!!! Don't think he's any real chance of catching Alex but that was a nice win.
Toprak is running away with the WorldSBK for BMW in what is a massive "fuck you" to Yamaha and MotoGP. I hope he does go to Moto eventually because he's the best rider in the world IMO.

Well done Oscar. Not a lot of intrigue at the top of the standings but 7 winners in 13 races is an excellent spread of winners.
